  1. Install JDK 11 for macOS. Choose the installer for your Mac (Apple Silicon or Intel).
  2. Download the client and move it somewhere easy to find, like your Desktop.

JDK 11 is required

Vorkath runs on JDK 11. Download the free JDK 11 installer (Eclipse Temurin 11) from Adoptium for your operating system and run it. Keep the Add to PATH option enabled during setup, then launch Vorkath.

  1. Open the JDK 11 download page and pick your system (Windows x64 for most PCs).
  2. Download the JDK installer (.msi on Windows, .pkg on Mac) and run it.
  3. Check it worked: open Command Prompt or Terminal and run java -version. It should mention version 11.

Troubleshooting

Having trouble?

Quick fixes for the most common setup issues.

Double-clicking the .jar does nothing, or it opens like a zip file

This usually means JDK 11 is not installed, or Windows has linked .jar files to another program.

  1. Install JDK 11 from Adoptium.
  2. Right-click Vorkath.jar, choose Open with, then Choose another app.
  3. Pick Java(TM) Platform SE binary or OpenJDK Platform binary and tick Always use this app.
How do I launch the client from the command line?

Open Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (Mac) in the folder that contains the client and run:

java -jar Vorkath.jar

If you see “java is not recognized” or “command not found”, JDK 11 is not installed or is not on your PATH. Reinstall JDK 11 and enable the Add to PATH option.

I have a different Java version installed. Will it work?

Vorkath is built for JDK 11. Run java -version in Command Prompt or Terminal to see which version your system uses. If it is not 11, install JDK 11 from Adoptium. You can keep other versions installed, but JDK 11 should be the one on your PATH.

Windows warned me when I opened VorkathSetup.exe

Windows SmartScreen often shows a warning for new installers it has not seen many times before. If you downloaded VorkathSetup.exe from this website, click More info, then Run anyway. Only ever run the launcher from this site or links in our official Discord.

macOS says the client cannot be opened

macOS blocks apps from unidentified developers by default. Control-click the file and choose Open, then confirm. If that does not work, go to System Settings, Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

My browser warned me about the download

Browsers often flag .exe and .jar files simply because they are programs. Only download the Vorkath launcher and client from this website or from links shared in our official Discord.
